How To Introduce Yourself In an Interview
First impressions always play a significant role in how an employer perceives you as a candidate. What you say during the 1st phase of the interview can make a difference in the outcome—in a good way or in a bad way.
Generally, Introduction is the very first thing that happens in a job interview.
You know, the first impression is the last impression. And you never get a second chance to make a first impression. So you must design your self-introduction in such a way so that it can make a good impression on the interviewer.
Now let’s know how you can create a good introduction for a job interview. Interviewers may ask you for a self-introduction in many ways, but generally, they ask you through “Tell me about yourself”. You do not need to come back across as awkward and lacking in social skills. Rather, you will need to point out that you just have the expertise and communication skills to be a quality to the company if hired.

Points To Introduce Yourself in a Job Interview:
Mind the context.
It’s a bit of a no-brainer. The context is your job interview, and introducing yourself means giving the best answer to the “tell me about yourself” question.
Do your research.
To introduce yourself in the best possible way, find out as much as you can about the company you’re applying to. Make sure you’re a cultural fit. And learn how to answer them. What are you passionate about?
Control your body language.
Body language communicates much more than you think. When you introduce yourself to the recruiter:
- Look them in the eye.
- Make sure your handshake is firm but natural to signal trust.
- Speak with confidence.
- Do not fidget, roll up your eyes, or cross your arms.
Prepare your answer.
Come in prepared to deliver the best interview introduction. That’s it. Rehearse what you want to say to minimize the chances of being taken by surprise.
And remember: It’s not how you start. It’s how you finish.

For E.g 3
My name is XXX and I am from Chennai. I am currently studying Finance and Economics at Hong Kong University. I was raised in Bengaluru and when I was 18 I moved to Hong Kong to study. Last year I went to London to join the school's exchange program. During my exchange I went backpacking with other backpackers from all over the world to other countries across Europe. It was a fun experience. I think I have been fortunate enough to be able to live in different parts of the world and thus be able to broaden my horizon. I have a strong interest in the banking and financial services industry. The reason is I'd like to leverage my detail-oriented mind and apply the skills and knowledge that I have attained throughout my degree courses. I see myself as a people-oriented and over-achiever. I demonstrated this through working in various group projects with different types of people in which I had been able to perform well. I would like to be part of your company to further develop myself in the banking field and to use my capabilities to serve both your company and your clients. (Note: all locations here are fiction, the rest is based on my factual experience even though some parts have been distorted a little bit. The purpose is just to let you know a structure of self-introduction that I think is good and appropriate.)
