Capgemini Latest News: Capgemini India Rolls Out Promotions, Salary Hike Amid Lockdown
Capgemini Latest News: French tech major Capgemini has taken certain measures to ensure employee welfare at a time when several companies have opted for salary cuts and layoffs.
Capgemini that employs close to 1.5 lakh people in India decided to give a single-digit hike to 70 percent of its staff or 84,000 employees effective in April. The rest of the organization will get increments effective from July 1.
The company also announced Rs 10,000 cash for those who are stranded without any accommodation and is also paying salaries without any timeline of those who are benched and do not have any billable projects, a Times of India report said.
“This is a black swan event and at this point, it’s not a question of a timeline, but how our business will evolve. And we have a clear view as to what our economic model is going to look like and we don’t see any reason to discontinue this approach,” Ashwin Yardi, CEO at Capgemini India said.
“All employees at A and B grades (84,000 employees) have got their hikes and others will get increments in line with our plan. There’s no discussion within the leadership of Capgemini India for a pay cut,” Yardi added.
Capgemini India has also set up a 25-million euro fund, which will be used for medical emergencies for its employees and their family members. The Fench IT firm has also committed Rs 40 lakh, with an additional Rs 50 lakh coming in through employee contributions, to help procure facemasks for medical personnel, police and other frontline staff fighting coronavirus.
Capgemini said through its CSR partners, it was also reaching out to migrants and daily wage earners, providing them with dry and cooked ration.
