Tech Service Providers are Hiring Fewer People in Cloud, Data Analytics Legacy Skills
As we all know The COVID-19 pandemic has a lasting impact on the global economy which also leads to a high unemployment rate. Most of the sectors mainly IT Firms/ Tech service providers have become selective about hiring key employees.
The demand for traditional skills has been significantly low from both tech and non-tech companies, as the pandemic has impacted overall hiring across industry sectors.
However, Technology services providers have hired fewer people with legacy skills during the past 3-4 months due to the business slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic
Software services exporters have hired people with emerging skills such as Data Science, Analytics, Cloud Computing (AWS), and other emerging technologies.
“Besides marginal demand for C, C++, VLSI design, no other legacy skills have been in demand in the past three months,” said Rituparna Chakraborty, co-founder and executive vice president of staffing services firm TeamLease.
As companies move their services online, software firms such as Infosys, TCS, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and others have been hunting for digital transformation deals that require professionals with new-age skills.

“At Tech Mahindra, we continue to hire for technical skills as per demand and our focus remains on skill-based hiring, especially in emerging technologies. Currently, we are looking at hiring across digital technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Robotic Process Automation, Blockchain, 5G, Internet of Things, and Cyber Security, among others,” he said.
